The Northern Roots Festival was one of the most highly anticipated small festivals of the year, with a fantastic musical heritage in the organiser Bruce MacGregor (of Blazing Fiddles and host of BBC Travelling Folk). That's not all that makes this festival special though; the venue is a fantastic farm setting, with comfy courtyards and beautiful barns all made fit for purpose (basically fitting extra bars into them!) by the lovely Jo de Sylva.

.

The festival played over a day and a half, with a main stage, a smaller stage, an acoustic room and even a mobile sound stage supported entirely from a campervan! There was always something wonderful playing whatever your tastes, and the promise of more great sounds just around the corner. This festival is an instant "Must Go To" for lovers of smaller festivals.

.

Heavyweights included:

The Elephant Sessions, Iain McLoughlin & The Outsiders, Justin Currie, Adam Holmes and The Embers, Andy Gunn, Tide Lines, Schnarff Schnarff

.

Other fantastic acts:

Be Charlotte, Noah Noah, Ho-Ro, Dr. Wook, Have Mercy Las Vegas, The Vegan Leather, SkjØr, Rachel Sermanni, Viper Swing, The Van T's
